$5K to Win Spartan 100 at Corrigan Oil Speedway Serves as Homecoming for Some, Challenge for Many with JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour

Nashville, TN – The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance is set to make its first-ever stop at Corrigan Oil Speedway for the $5,000 to win Spartan 100 on Sunday, June 9th. For some of the drivers in the 2024 campaign, the trip to Corrigan Oil Speedway in Mason, Michigan will be a chance to return to a track that served as an early steppingstone in their career that has now brought them to the JEGS Tour. From Bandoleros, Legends, Street Stocks, Late Model Sportsman, and Jr Late Models, Corrigan Oil holds fond memories for some. Others on the Tour this season look at Corrigan Oil Speedway as one of the biggest question marks on the calendar.

Entry List: https://starsnationaltour.com/event/jegs-060924/

As of Wednesday, 19 gladiators are prepared to do battle on the ¼ mile bullring just 15 minutes from East Lansing’s Michigan State University, home of the MSU Spartans. The Speedway, which has gone through ownership turmoil in recent years, returns with a full schedule in 2024 that includes the first-ever appearance of the JEGS Tour. A regular presenter of Late Model Sportsman and Modified racing, the track was once home to current JEGS Tour drivers in their early years.

Full-time JEGS Tour drivers Brandon and Evan Varney cut their teeth as child racers nearly a decade ago in the Bandolero division. Both drivers have wins in the division that Corrigan Oil tried to bring more popularity to in Michigan. As the Varney brothers’ careers evolved, so did the accolades. Brandon earned a Late Model Sportsman Championship at Corrigan Oil Speedway in 2017.
Guy Fire has memories at Corrigan Oil Speedway, some of which he might like to forget. Alongside success at the push-and-shove battlefield, Fire had a spectacular crash into the turn one wall early in his career. A slow start to the 2024 season on the JEGS Tour has Fire ready to get redemption at Corrigan Oil Speedway on Sunday.

Three drivers on the Entry List are prepared to tackle Corrigan Oil Speedway for the first time since their cars were unloaded at the facility for a Jr Late Model event. Charlie Keeven is a former Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Model Series winner at Corrigan Oil Speedway back in 2019. During that event, Keeven bested defending JEGS Tour Champion Chase Burda as well as Evan Varney.

Michigan native, Katie Hettinger is set to return to Corrigan Oil Speedway in her first appearance back to her home state in 2024. The former CRA Jr Late Model Champion is still searching for her first JEGS Tour win, which could come just days before her 17th birthday. Hettinger is a two-time runner-up with the JEGS Tour, including last year at Birch Run Speedway. According to Hettinger’s website, the Spartan 100 will serve as the first of four total races she plans to compete in with the JEGS Tour in 2024.

As for the other regulars, Blake Rowe will unload his privately owned No.71 on Sunday as he looks to maintain his slim 16-point advantage over Canadian, Chase Pinsonneault. Rowe is a former winner at Corrigan Oil Speedway in Open-Wheel Modifieds and returns to the JEGS Tour after an up-and-down race at Owosso Speedway on May 25th. After spinning on the backstretch, Rowe fought back to a tenth-place finish while Pinsonneault went on to win the event and cut into Rowe’s points lead.

Meanwhile, several drivers remain within striking distance should Rowe and Pinsonneault have trouble on Sunday. Barrett Polhemus will make his Corrigan Oil Speedway debut on Sunday trailing Rowe by just 23 points in the Championship hunt. Meanwhile, he and Pinsonneault are also locked in the Rookie of the Year battle, with Pinsonneault ahead by just seven points. Defending Champion Burda is tied with Evan Varney, both 57 points out while Charlie Keeven sits 59 points back.

The Spartan 100 at Corrigan Oil Speedway is Sunday, June 9th with the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance plus racing from Pony Stocks, Outlaw Front Wheel Drives, All American Trucks, and Figure 8s. Gates and the CRA Fan Zone open at 3:00 PM with JEGS Tour Qualifying at 4:00 PM. The first green flag of the night falls at 5:00 PM.

Fans can get discounted advanced tickets online at CorriganOilSpeedway.com. Tickets will also be available at the gate on race day. Those who can’t make the trip can catch the action LIVE on TrackTv.com and RacingAmerica.Tv.
